New Inspiration

I know that I've been out of it, that is, blogging wise and perhaps in other ways, but I've found some new inspiration:

First of all, I just had a nice break during this 40-city tour. I relaxed, attended church, worked on my house, worked in the garden, and bought and played a berimbau.

Second, my wife is finishing up most of the rest of the tour with me, which obviously, she is breath of fresh air out here.

Lastly, I've been working on putting together some new ideas for my blog; namely, with the help of my good friend Meshach, I plan to put up some videos of bass lessons (both electric and acoustic) and MPC 2000 lessons. It will be a great exercise for me, and hopefully, it will be helpful to others. I get asked a lot of questions about bass playing on the road and in emails. So, maybe this will help. It will cover a lot of stuff: basics, scales, modes, styles, etc.

Let's see how it goes . . .

It sounds like a great break. Funny, I think if I were touring in a band, church is the thing I'd probably miss most (other than family, of course.) I'm excited that your wife gets to travel with you now. :) I think it's great!!

See ya on Tuesday.

I'm bringing Darren some chalk. LOL

That's cool that you're looking to post up some lessons.. I'd be very interested in the MPC ones - admittedly they wouldn't be much help because I don't own one.

Do you find it hard when your touring to maintain other interests? I could imagine that could really suck...

Since this is your most recent blog I wanted to say that you guys really rocked Denver tonight. I really enjoyed the variations on the songs along the new one... and of course your acoustic work! Wow!

My blessings on the road for you. I missed not talking with you guys, but you did seem tired up there :) Plus, the rain wasn't exactly helpful either!

Anywho, although I'm going to stick with singing, I would certainly enjoy watching any lessons you put up. Who knows, maybe once I have some free time I might give it a whirl!

P.S. When is that story collection going to come out?

I was rather bummed that we didn't get to talk after the show, but I did chat your wife's ear nearly off during the last half of Wolfmother's set. She is soooooo sweet. I like her lots. :)

I think it's interesting that we can have more fun talking to band family members than another band.

Looking forward to those bass lessons.

It's a great idea.

I hope that new song "Voice" makes the final cut of your next album. I'm feelin' the grove of the bassline.

Bass lessons! How about a berimbau lesson? I love random percussive instruments...
